A few months ago, for my semi-annual checkup at the dentist, my hygienist noticed that I had some ridges on the top of my teeth. As my dentist examined my teeth, he realized that when I shifted my bottom teeth and top teeth in the opposite direction, the ridges on the top of my teeth perfectly aligned with the bottom of my teeth. I was instantly diagnosed as a night time teeth grinder. My dentist offered to make me a custom fit mouth guard through a simple process. He would mold the
mouth guard to my teeth shape. Sounded like a great idea until I heard it was going to cost about $200. I understood the severity of my night time teeth grinding and did not want to have anymore excessive noticeable ridges on my teeth but I figured I would shop around for non custom made mouth guards before I made the large purchase.
Archtek Grind Night Guard is the third mouth guard that I have tried and I am pretty satisfied with it. I have tried both hard plastic mouth guards and flimsy gel guards. The Archtek night guard is a perfect combination of support and gel that I feel most comfortable in. The Archtek night guard also lets you create a custom mouth guard for your teeth. Just bring hot water to a boil, dip the mouth guard in, place it in your mouth and let the gel sit on your teeth, and wallah, a custom mouth guard for your teeth has been created. The Archtek night guard also provided lines on the edges of the guard for a more custom fit so that you can shorten the guard. I liked the flexibility of the mouth guard since people have different shaped mouths and I decided to cut both sides so that it fit comfortably on my teeth. I did not wake up once in the middle of the night due to discomfort and I left the mouth guard in all night, which was not the case for my past counterparts.
